LA CROSSE, Wis. -
Kavin Prasanna finished in sixth place in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, taking home first-team All-America honors for the Stags.
Kaden Cassidy, who has battled injury over the second half of the season but returned to repeat as SCIAC hammer champion, also earned second-team All-America honors for CMS, finishing 15th.
Prasanna had the third-best throw in prelims, reaching 195'2", just four inches off his personal best set earlier this year. That held up as a first-team All-America mark, as only three competitors threw further in the final round.
Ellis DelVecchio and
Pierce Clark earned second-team All-America honors in the 800 meter prelims on Friday, coming in 15th and 16th place to take the final two positions.
Jaden Rattay had the top time in his prelims in the 400 on Friday, but unfortunately stepped on the line on one of his turns and was disqualified.
CMS will look to improve its standing next year, as Prassana and Cassidy will lead a strong group of throwers, while Rattay will lead a strong group of middle distance runners.
