CHICAGO -- The top-ranked University of Chicago women's tennis team earned the #2 overall seed and will travel to Saint Peter, Minnesota for the first three rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Regional tournament will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as the field reduces from 49 teams to 8. #64 Luther will take on Illinois Tech at 10 AM CT and #28 UW-La Crosse will play UW-Superior at 2 PM CT on Friday to open the tournament. On Saturday, #1 UChicago will play the winner of #64 Luther and Illinois Tech at 10 AM CT, and #20 Gustavus Adolphus will play the winner of #28 UW-La Crosse and UW-Superior at 2 PM CT. Then, on Saturday at 12 PM CT, the winners of Friday's matches will play for a spot in the NCAA National Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The University of Chicago enters the NCAA Tournament with a record of 16-4 overall and a record of 12-2 against NCAA Division III opponents. The Maroons are riding a nine-game win streak after taking down #37 Brandeis, #6 Carnegie Mellon, and #2 WashU en route to their fifth consecutive UAA Championship. UChicago has also taken down #2 WashU, #7 Pomona-Pitzer, #8 Kenyon, #46 Holy Cross, and #63 UW-Whitewater on their current win streak. The Maroons are 7-2 against top-10 teams this season with their only Division III losses coming to Clearmont-Mudd-Scripps, both in the Indoor National Championships and on their spring break trip.

This will mark the 15th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Maroons, and they will look to return to the NCAA Division III National Championships for the ninth consecutive time. UChicago had their streak of three consecutive trips to the National Championship match come to an end last season with a loss to WashU, the eventual national champions, in the National Quarterfinals.

The Maroons are also looking to become just the sixth team in NCAA Division III history to win two National Championships in a three-year span, joining Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Emory, Kenyon, UC San Diego, and Williams.
