Men's Golf Takes Title by Three Strokes at SCIAC No. 2

BEAUMONT, Calif. - Sebi Aliaga tied for second and Logan Mills finished fifth as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team held off Cal Lutheran for a three-shot win in windy conditions at the two-day SCIAC No. 2 Tournament at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.

Logan Mills finished fifth as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's golf team held off Cal Lutheran for a three-shot win in windy conditions at the two-day SCIAC No. 2 Tournament at Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon.

CMS finished at +34 over the two-day tournament in which no individuals shot even par in the tough conditions, Cal Lutheran was second at +37, Pomona-Pitzer was third at +44 and Redlands was fourth at +48.

Aliaga finished at +4 over his 36 holes, shooting a solid 73 on Saturday to end up three shots behind individual medalist Jackson Stitt of Cal Lutheran. Mills was at +7, including a 74 on Saturday, while

Samson Li was eighth at +10, as the Stags had three first-years place in the top 10.

Jack Rende, playing as an independent, came in a tie for 11th place.

Aliaga closed out with eight pars in a row to help CMS close it out. He had back-to-back birdies on No. 4 and No. 5 on the front nine, before settling for a 73.

Mills had an eagle on the third hole, and then picked up a big birdie on the 16th to close at -1 over his last six holes.

Ryan Liang also was of the scorers for the Stags on Saturday, shooting +1 with eight pars in the last nine holes.

Li had an eagle on the 16th on Friday on his way to a 75, while Mills got some momentum with two birdies in his last three holes.

Jamison Tan also came through with two birdies to close out -2 on his last six holes.

CMS will be back in action for the SCIAC Championships in three weeks.
