Dragseth, Laudi Win Individual Titles at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. - Hope Dragseth earned first place in the 5000 meters, and Sophia Laudi took first in the javelin, to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.

CLAREMONT, Calif. -

Hope Dragseth earned first place in the 5000 meters, and

Sophia Laudi took first in the javelin, to highlight the performance of the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's track and field team at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday.

Dragseth ran a 16:52.65 to win first at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, while also moving into seventh all-time in CMS history. Laudi's winning throw in the javelin was 139'0", and followed by Lorrell in Shiely in third at 128'6" and

Quinn Smith in fifth at 127'9". Smith set a new PR and moved up to fifth all-time in CMS history with her throw.

Revere Schmidt had a third-place finish in the steeplechase for the Athenas at 11:22.30, while CMS had seven different athletes come in fourth place.

Emily Ortiz came in fourth in both the hammer throw (147'5") and the discus (137'8") with

Ellabelle Higgins adding a tenth-place finish in the hammer as well.

Kailty Creighton was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15:08, while

Shriya Velichala earned fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:04.48.

Riley Capuano took fourth in the 800 meters at 2:12.99, with

Sadie Drucker earning fourth in the 1500 meters at 4:37.13, with

Jie Yi Denise Chen adding a sixth-place finish in 4:38.46.

Josephine Jett earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 12.03.

CMS will be back in action this week at multiple events (Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational, La Verne Invitational) as it gears up for the SCIAC Championships in three weeks.
