Stags Track and Field Rolls to Sixth Straight SCIAC Title

REDLANDS, Calif. -

Jacob Pippel (steeplechase) and

Kaden Cassidy (hammer) won individual titles on Saturday, and

Jaden Rattay (400),

Ellis DelVecchio (800), and

Jack Paavola (discus) earned them on Sunday, as the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps men's track and field team won its sixth SCIAC title in a row, dating back to 2019, at the University of Redlands.

CMS finished with 196 points as a team, a winning markin of just over 50 points ahead of second-place Redlands with 143.5. Pomona-Pitzer finished in third with 127.

The Stags were able to open up a lead on the first day, with Cassidy finishing first and

Kavin Prasanna second in the hammer throw to earn CMS 18 points, with Prasanna setting a new PR with a throw of 195'4" to move up from eighth to fourth in CMS history. Pippel finished in 9:14.59 to earn the win in the steeplechase.

Paavola's 154'4" in the discus on Sunday earned him that win, while

Cian Bryant came in second in the javelin and

Aidan Cho was second in the shot put for the CMS throwers.

Rattay took the 400 meters on Sunday in 47.55, while

Oliver Thompson came in second for the Stags in a time of 47.55. DelVecchio earned the win in the 800 meters with a 1:51.08, and

Pierce Clark came in third with a 1:53.64. Rattay, DelVecchio, Thompson and

Aiden Owens capped off the meet with a win in the 4x400 relay for the fifth individual win of the weekend for the Stags.

Hayden Beauchemin earned All-SCIAC honors with a time of 3:51.38, while Pippel was second in the 5000 meters and

Charlie Routledge took third in the 10000, as the Stags scored in all of the distance events.

Diego Amescua was a second-place finisher in the pole vault at 15-feet even, and

Jonathan Holcombe took second in the long jump at 22'1.5".

The 4x100 relay team of

Aiden Owens,

Dylan Dimond,

Arthur Cary and

Jaden Rattay earned third to take Alll-SCIAC honors as well.

CMS will be back in action for a couple of Last Chance meets before the NCAA Division III Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin from May 21-23.
