The Wesleyan Cardinals are the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Champions, having defeated the defending champion Washington University in St. Louis Bears 4-1 in Chattanooga. This victory marks the program's second national title and its first since 2019.
Ranked fourth in the nation, Wesleyan showcased their strength throughout the tournament, culminating in a decisive match against the third-ranked Bears at the Champions Club. Freshman Agnes Guggenheim, named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year, clinched the championship by converting match point, capping a remarkable season with a record of 23 wins and 2 losses.
First-year head coach Steph Yanosov made history by leading the Cardinals to a national championship in her debut season, a testament to her effective leadership and the team's resilience. The Cardinals return home from Chattanooga as champions, celebrating a significant achievement in their athletic history.
The next round of competition will take place in the 2027 season, where teams will vie for the title once again.
