The Williams College women's ice hockey team capped off a remarkable season by advancing to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight, where they faced top-ranked Wisconsin-River Falls. Despite a valiant effort from senior goaltender Erin Pye, who made 45 saves, the Ephs fell 1-0. Pye, a finalist for the prestigious Laura Hurd Award, was instrumental in leading the team to its second-ever NCAA tournament win earlier in the season. The loss marked the end of the collegiate careers for seven seniors, including Pye, who was also named NESCAC Player of the Year.
In women's basketball, sophomore guard Micah Walton and junior forward Kathleen Smith earned WBCA All-American Honorable Mention honors. Walton, who was also named to the NESCAC All-Conference First Team, played a pivotal role in guiding the Ephs to the NESCAC semifinals. She led the team in scoring and ranked among the conference leaders in several statistical categories.
The men's and women's track & field teams opened their outdoor season at the Emory Spring Break Classic in Georgia. The women's team saw standout performances from Ellie Fitzgerald and Audrey Cheng, who finished first and second in their events, while Maria Fareti excelled in the hammer throw. The men's team concluded their indoor season with 16 All-Region and five All-American honors, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the distance medley relay at the national championships.
At the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, the Ephs delivered strong performances. Sam Brozek excelled in the 200 freestyle, finishing 10th, while freshmen Maggie Farley and Esme Van Orden earned All-American honors in the 100 fly. Sophie Phelps also impressed with top finishes in the 200 and 400 IM events.
Additionally, Williams College announced the appointment of Rick Bender as the new Director of Athletic Communications, bringing over 25 years of experience to the role.
