Dartmouth College commemorates a significant milestone in its athletic history as it celebrates 50 years of Dartmouth women competing in the Olympics. This legacy began with Julie H. Geer '75, who was the first female athlete from Dartmouth to participate in the Olympics, representing the United States in rowing. Geer, a trailblazer for Dartmouth women in sports, competed in the 1976, 1980, and 1984 Olympic Games, achieving sixth-place finishes in both 1976 and 1984. Her pioneering spirit paved the way for future generations of Dartmouth women athletes across various sports, including cross country, ice hockey, rowing, rugby, soccer, track and field, and skiing, to compete at the highest level.
In football, Dartmouth announces its 2026 schedule under the leadership of head coach Sammy McCorkle. The Big Green will play five home games, including a season opener against the defending Patriot League champions, Lehigh, on September 19. Dartmouth, aiming for its 23rd Ivy League Championship, will face a mix of non-conference and Ivy League opponents. The team looks forward to a competitive season, with McCorkle highlighting the strength and parity within the Ivy League as key elements of the upcoming campaign.
