MIT baseball first-year Dalton Chi has earned significant recognition following a standout rookie season. He has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region I Second Team and the D3baseball.com All-Region First Team. Chi's impressive season included a top-ten ranking in the NEWMAC for on-base percentage (.474), home runs (7), and stolen bases (23). He led the Engineers in several offensive categories, including OPS (1.072), hits (47), runs scored (41), home runs (7), and total bases (77). His performance also earned him the NEWMAC Athlete of the Week honor for the week of March 29, when he recorded nine hits in 15 at-bats, scoring nine runs and driving in six RBIs during a pair of conference victories.
In softball, four members of the MIT team have been honored with 2026 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District accolades. This recognition celebrates their achievements both on the field and in the classroom, underscoring the balance of academic and athletic excellence that MIT student-athletes strive for. The announcement of the first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will take place on June 16, 2026, further highlighting the academic prowess of these athletes.
Additionally, the MIT track and field teams showcased their talents at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The women's team finished 10th out of 72 programs, marking their fourth consecutive top-ten national finish. Senior Hailey Surace led the way, securing national runner-up honors in the pole vault with a career-best clearance of 4.10 meters. The men's team tied for 34th overall, with notable performances from Jared Steins and David Whitaker in the 800 meters, as well as Jonah Goldstein, who earned his first career podium finish in the javelin. Collectively, the women's team earned 12 All-America honors, while the men's squad secured six.
