The Yale baseball team has secured its spot in the NCAA Tournament after winning the Ivy League Championship, marking the program's seventh appearance in the national postseason. The Bulldogs (30-13-1) will compete in the Eugene Regional, hosted by the University of Oregon, beginning on May 29. They earned the Ivy League's automatic bid following a strong season, which included a regular season title and a successful run through the conference tournament. Yale will face Oregon in its opening game, with the double-elimination format featuring Oregon State and Washington State as well.
In women's tennis, the standout duo of Leena Friedman and Orly Ogilvy has been recognized as ITA All-Americans, a first for a doubles team in Yale’s history. The pair, who achieved First Team All-Ivy honors, finished the spring season with an 11-8 record, including notable victories over Stanford and Princeton. Their performance this year culminated in a historic run to the NCAA quarterfinals, further solidifying their place among the program's elite.
The Yale women's track and field team is sending five athletes to the NCAA East First Round meet in Kentucky this week. First-year Constanza Acevedo will compete in the javelin throw, while first-year Phoebe Benun and sophomore Zoe Martonfi will race in the 3K steeplechase. Junior Gloria Guerrier is set to compete in the 400-meter hurdles, and junior Juliette Kosmont will run the 100 meters. This meet will determine who advances to the NCAA Championships in Oregon next month.
On the men's side, three Yale track and field athletes will also compete at the NCAA East First Round. Senior Owen Karas will take part in the 5K, junior Nathan Lebowitz will compete in the discus throw, and senior Nolan Recker will participate in the hammer throw. Karas enters the competition with a school-record time of 13:47.74, aiming to secure a top finish to advance to the national stage.
In rowing, the Yale Lightweight Crew is preparing for the IRA National Championships in California. The No. 7 ranked varsity eight will race against formidable opponents, including No. 2 Princeton and No. 3 Dartmouth, in heats on Friday. The regatta spans three days, with the Grand Final set for Sunday.
Lastly, five members of the Yale softball team have earned Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators. Emma Taylor, Kaitlyn Oikle, Elena Ohe, Ella Cross, and Ella Gandolfo have been recognized for their combined achievements in athletics and academics, highlighting the program's commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
