ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell Athletics once again led all colleges and units across Cornell University on Cornell Giving Day, raising a record $2,683,279 from 6,439 donors in a powerful 24-hour celebration of Big Red pride and philanthropy. This total marked the highest Giving Day performance across the university and was bolstered by nearly $1 million in match and challenge dollars provided by generous lead donors, helping fuel momentum and maximize impact throughout the day.

Athletics played a central role in the success of Giving Day, with 38% of all Cornellians who made a gift choosing to support the Athletics Annual Fund or their favorite Big Red team or program—a clear testament to the passion alumni, families, and friends have for Cornell student-athletes and the championship experience.

A defining highlight of the day was the leadership of Cornell student-athletes, who signed up to serve as Giving Day "Champions," conducting personal outreach to alumni, friends, and family. Their authentic voices and advocacy helped generate $291,042 in support, showcasing the power of peer-to-peer engagement and the lasting influence of student-athletes as ambassadors for their program.

"I am deeply thankful to everyone who supported Cornell Athletics on Giving Day," said Dr. Nicki Moore, the Meakem & Smith Director of Athletics and Physical Education. "Each and every year, I am so impressed by how the Big Red community shows up for our programs. Giving Day underscores the pride and love I feel, and that so many of us share for this extraordinary community and for the student-athletes we are privileged to serve. It is truly a special day for our teams, programs, and students.

Cornell Giving Day also served as a perfect springboard into a marquee weekend for Big Red Athletics, as Cornell hosts the Ivy Madness Basketball tournaments, ECAC men's hockey postseason competition, and resumes a full slate of spring sports contests; momentum powered by a community united behind student-athlete success.

Together, the results of Giving Day highlight the strength of the Big Red network and a shared commitment to excellence in competition, academics, and leadership!
