NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale baseball team captured the Ivy League Tournament championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating Brown 7-5 at George H.W. Bush '48 Field to secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs completed a whole-team effort, capping off a dominant postseason run on their home field.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale baseball team captured the Ivy League Tournament championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating Brown 7-5 at George H.W. Bush '48 Field to secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs completed a whole-team effort, capping off a dominant postseason run on their home field.

The top-seeded Bulldogs won their third consecutive game in the conference tournament. They vanquished No. 4 Columbia on Friday and followed up with consecutive wins over No. 3 Brown on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bears hopped out to a 3-0 lead in the second, but Yale scored seven unanswered runs to take the lead. Brown cut the lead to 7-4 in the eighth. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Yale called on sophomore starting pitcher Jack Ohman, who threw 100 pitches on Friday. Ohman allowed a sac fly and a walk but struck out the next two batters to strand the bases loaded. The Arizona native finished the ninth to seal the 7-5 victory and the Ivy League Tournament title.

Key Performers

• Reliever Teo Spadaccini pitched well in relief of starting pitcher Daniel Cohen. Spadaccini tossed 5.2 innings while allowing just two earned runs.

• Ohman closed out the game, hurling two innings while allowing one hit. He struck out three to earn the save.

Game Notes

• Yale won its 30th game of the season, the fourth time in program history matching the 30-win mark.

• The Bulldogs will make their seventh NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2017.

• Ruiz-Weiss drove in two runs, the first time in his career he recorded a multi-RBI game.

• Ohman was named Most Outstanding Player of the Ivy League Tournament. Ohman, along with Spadaccini, DiPrima, and Tate Evans, was named to the All-Tournament Team.
