**PROVIDENCE, R.I. –**Brown women's swimming and diving has named Lauren Sullivan as an assistant coach, Mary Ann Lippitt Head Coaching Chair in Women's Swimming and Diving Mitch Dalton announced on Tuesday (May 19).
Sullivan joins the Bears having spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Arizona, where she also served as the assistant recruiting coordinator. During her two seasons with the Wildcats, Sullivan helped the teams earn second place finishes in the Big 12 Championships both seasons.
"I am incredibly excited to continue my coaching career at Brown and join a program that truly embodies excellence in every way," said Sullivan. "I'm thrilled for this next chapter and the chance to work with such an incredible team while helping move the program forward at the highest level. I want to thank Mitch for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of building something special. Go Bruno!"
Last season at Arizona, Sullivan helped lead Wildcats to 18 top-ten tImes in program history and two school records, 12 individual NCAA Qualifiers, nine NCAA relay A cuts and was the primary coach for three Big 12 champions. In her first season in Tucson, Sullivan helped oversee a program that produced 11 All-American Second Team honorees, 25 Big 12 individual finalists, 17 All-Big 12 First Team honorees, eight All Big-12 Second Team honorees, four new program records and 16 top-ten program times
Sullivan also has coaching stops at George Washington and Northeastern University. She was a 14-time finalist at the MAC Championships during her swimming career at Bowling Green.
Head Coach Mitch Dalton on hiring Lauren Sullivan:
"She is one of the most sought-after young assistant coaches in the country, and from the very beginning it was clear that she aligned with the vision we are building at Brown — returning this program to the top of the Ivy League and competing nationally at the NCAA level.
What stood out to me immediately was her ability to build meaningful, lasting relationships with student-athletes while also maintaining an incredibly high standard of performance and accountability. Those qualities matter deeply to me and to the culture we want to create here.
As we built this staff, it was important for me to surround this program with winners. Her experience winning a conference championship at George Washington, the success she helped drive at Northeastern, and the impact she made at Arizona — particularly in recruiting and athlete development — made it obvious that she knows how to elevate programs and get results.
I always pay close attention to great assistants, and during NCAAs I found myself watching how she coached, communicated, and carried herself on deck. It became clear very quickly that she is the real deal.
Lauren can flat out coach. She is thoughtful, intentional, and deeply invested in the process. She's not someone who simply follows instructions — she has learned from great mentors while developing her own voice, her own eye for the sport, and her own ability to lead athletes toward excellence. We are incredibly fortunate to have her joining Brown Swimming & Diving."
