Lightweight Crew Sees Second Varsity Eight Advance to Sunday's Grand Final
The Navy lightweight rowing team opened action at the 2026 IRA National Championship on Friday with three crews taking to the waters of Lake Natoma in northern California. At the completion of four individual 2,000-meter pieces, one time trial and three semifinal races on Friday, the Mids saw their second varsity eight crew advance to its respective grand final.

Deegan and Tarzy were among the 150 student-athletes, representing 81 institutions nationwide to be named to one of the six all-region teams.

Racing for positions 13 through 18 nationally, the Mids' first and third boats finished runner-up in their respective competitions to place 14th overall, while its second varsity came in 17th. As a team, Navy ranked 14th in the Ten Eyck Team Points standings.
