Softball staves off elimination in NCAA regionals with wins over No. 12 Husson, Endicott

BANGOR, Maine – The Colby College softball team entered Friday at the 2026 NCAA Division III Softball Bangor, Maine Regional needing four wins to make it out of the regional round and it ended the day with half of its goal accomplished.

NCAA Regional Game 4 - Colby 3, No. 12 Husson 2

Colby College started the day off by walking off Husson University 3-2 on Friday afternoon at O'Keefe Field, advancing in the elimination bracket to face Endicott College with dramatic seventh-inning finish. Senior

Emma Burnham powered the Mules with two home runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh.

Colby (27-12) struck first in the opening inning when Burnham launched a solo shot to left-center for a 1-0 lead. Husson (36-6) answered in the second after a Colby throwing error helped the Eagles tie the game 1-1.

After Husson was retired in order in the top of the seventh, Burnham ended the game with her second homer of the afternoon, a walk-off blast to left field that sealed the 3-2 victory for the Mules.

Burnham finished 3-for-4 with all three Colby RBIs and two runs scored, while Kiley added two hits and an RBI. Sophomore

Sophia Meade (12-3) earned the win in relief, allowing one run over 5.2 innings.

NCAA Regional Game 5 - Colby 6, Endicott 3

The Mules erased a two-run deficit with a five-run sixth inning to defeat Endicott College, 6-3, in the final game of the day at O'Keefe Field to claim the program's first-ever spot in a regional championship game.

Colby (28-12) struck first in the opening inning when senior

Carissa Cassidy tripled and scored on an RBI single by Burnham. Endicott (27-15) responded in the third with a three-run frame to take a 3-1 lead.

The Mules stayed within striking distance before exploding in the sixth inning. RBI hits from senior

Kelsey Sullivan, Cassidy, and Burnham powered a five-run rally that turned a 3-1 deficit into a 6-3 advantage. Burnham delivered the biggest blow with a two-run single to cap the inning.

Colby finished with 11 hits, led by Cassidy's 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI. Burnham also went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Sullivan added two RBIs in the decisive sixth inning.

In the circle, Meade (13-3) earned the win in relief, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just one hit and striking out two.

The Mules will take on No. 21 Massachusetts Institute of Technology tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in game six of the Bangor, Maine Regional Tournament and must defeat the Engineers twice to claim the regional title.
