Track & Field Sails to Annapolis for Patriot League Outdoor Championships

**LEWISBURG, Pa.-**The Bucknell track & field teams travel to the U.S. Naval Academy this weekend for the 2026 Patriot League Outdoor Championships. Both the Bison men and women placed fourth in 2025 and are looking to crash the Army, Boston, and Navy party that has occupied the top three positions in recent years. Bucknell structures its program for the outdoor season and the Bison have been excellent in this outdoor campaign with key performances at the Colonial Relays, Bison Outdoor Classic, ECAC/IC4A Championships, and the Penn Relays. Several Orange & Blue athletes will conclude their careers or make a push for top 48 in the NCAA East rankings. The championships (track events only) will be streamed on ESPN+.

"Both teams are ready and excited for the Patriot League Outdoor Championships this weekend. The spring outdoor season has gone very well and we recruit and structure our program for the outdoor season. The past 4-5 years, both our men's and women's programs have been in the 4th-5th range and we hope to change that pattern this weekend. The upper echelon of the league has been Navy, Army and Boston and all three of those programs are very well coached and very balanced on all event areas. We need to be on top of our game to join that party."

• The Bucknell men's team won two events.

Mason Barlowclaimed victory in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:32.14. The junior was running in third before surging ahead for the win.Michael Chernovaearned the other Bison victory by winning the pole vault. He cleared a season best 15-3.Jared Hessdid not post any of the wins but his second place finish in the triple jump headlined Bucknell's efforts. The jumper, who received Most Improved for his indoor campaign, continued his upward progression by leaping 48-2 in his fourth attempt. The mark moved him into eighth all-time at Bucknell.Alex Polenikwon Patriot League Men's Outdoor Rookie of the Week for his third place finish in the discus throw, flinging a mark of 49.38m (162-0).- With his victory, Bucknell won all three Patriot League awards (Track, Field, and Rookie) for the first time since 2013.

Evelyn Blissestablished her fourth facility and meet record of 2026 in the javelin throw by tossing 55.93m (183-6), breaking the previous facility record of 166-8 set by Ann Krouse in 2007. - Lea broke the 53-second barrier with her event-winning run of 52.90. The sophomore smashed her old school record of 53.07 set at last year's Patriot League Outdoor Championships.

Justley Sharpwon the shot put by throwing a pair of 14.69m (48-2.50) tosses. The junior recorded four marks of 45+ feet.
