Softball Falls to Colby in NCAA Regional Championship
The MIT softball team fell to Colby College in the NCAA Bangor Regional Championship on Sunday afternoon at Robert & Frances O'Keefe Softball Field on the campus of Husson University.

Arianna Kumar, Ava Ladd, and Delaney Benevides were named to the All-Tournament Team.

**HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE: **

Colby jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a run in the first and three in the third.

The Engineers pulled within two in the bottom of the third with back-to-back bases loaded walks by
Delaney Benevides and Layla Thiessen.

Colby tacked on another run with an RBI double by Avery Lyman in the fifth and a three-run sixth put the Mules ahead 8-2. Victoria Ramiirez made it a 9-2 game with an RBI single in the seventh.

Benevides doubled to lead off the seventh, but the Mules got the next three outs to take the win and force a decisive winner-take-all game.
**INSIDE THE NUMBERS: **

Benevides led MIT with two hits in the game.

Lyman went 3-3 with three RBI.
**HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO: **
Lauren Sundquist and Maggie Feng worked bases loaded walks to give MIT an early 2-0 lead. The Mules responded in the bottom of the first with three runs to take the lead.

The Engineers tied the game in the second as Benevides scored on an error on a ball hit by Kumar. Yet again Colby responded as an RBI single from Juliana Kiley put the Mules back in the lead.

A five-run fifth helped Colby pull ahead 8-3.
Olivia Scarpaci hit a two-out single in the sixth and advanced to second on a passed ball, but she was left stranded.
- Thiessen led off the top of the seventh with a single and Ladd followed with a single to center to bring up Kumar whose single plated Thiessen to make it 8-4. Sundquist doubled to left to score Ladd and get MIT to within three, but the Mules got the next two outs to secure the win.
**INSIDE THE NUMBERS: **

Seven different Engineers recorded a hit in the game.

Sundquist led the way with two RBI.
Emily Watson pitched six innings and did not allow a walk.
