CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach, The James Herscot '58 Coach of Excellence

Ted Minnis announced the men's water polo team's latest class of incoming first-years on Tuesday. Minnis and the Crimson welcome four new student-athletes to the class of 2030.

"I am very excited for this class, which will bring depth to an already talented returning group," stated Minnis. "We really focused on bringing in players up the middle of the pool and this class will make an immediate impact in the water. They truly are leaders in and out of the pool and make up everything we look for in scholar-athletes."

The class consists of attacker

Clay Carrington (Menlo Park, Calif.), goalie

Jonas Ransford (Newport Beach, Calif.), center

**Geoffrey Slutzky (Newport Beach, Calif.) **and center

Rigby Snapp (Ventura, Calif.).

Additionally, the class includes three West Coast prospects from California and one East Coast recruit from New Jersey. The four-player group is comprised of two centers, one attacker and one goalie.

Last season, Harvard men's water polo went 20-10 and reached the title game of the NWPC.

Clay Carrington

Attacker • Menlo Park, Calif. • Sacred Heart Preparatory

Competed in water polo and swimming at Sacred Heart Prep from 2023-26… Captained the 2025 water polo team and earned first-team All-America… won conference championships all four years to continue program's streak of 15 consecutive Central Coast Section Championships… earned first-team all-conference as a junior in 2024 and second-team All-America… competed as a member of Atherton Aquatics Foundation from 2002-26… won honors in algebra 2, trigonometry and pre-calculus… earned Cum Laude on National Latin Exam… worked with athletes in local Special Olympics programs… son of Noha and John Carrington.

Minnis on Carrington: "Clay is long lefty that shoots the ball very well. He will bring the ability to play multiple positions in the pool for us. He can post up, defend and is super explosive in transition.

Jonas Ransford

Goalie • Newport Beach, Calif. • JSerra Catholic

Played four years of water polo and competed in swimming for one season at JSerra Catholic High School… first-team All-Trinity League pick in 2024 and 2025 as well as second-team selection in 2023… earned second-team All-CIF in 2025… a 2024 second-team All-American… 2023 18u Futures Super Finals Top Goalie… helped 2024 Cadet National Team to a fifth-place finish at u16 World Aquatics World Championships in Malta… competing at the u18 Youth World Aquatics World Championships in Portugal in the summer of 2026… led JSerra to undefeated 30-0 2023 season with CIF Southern Section and Southern Regional Championships… added a second Southern Regional Championships in 2024… played for Vanguard Aquatics from 2017-22 and Mission Water Polo Club from 2023-26… son of Amy and Derrek Ransford.

Minnis on Ransford: "Jonas brings a high level of goalkeeping from California, where he has been a member of JSerra and Mission Club and the Youth National team. He has been the constant of his team's success. He is an anchor on the defensive side of the ball."

Geoffrey Slutzky

Center • Newport Beach, Calif. • Newport Harbor

Played four years of water polo at Newport Harbor… two-time All-Sunset League selection and two-time All-CIF selection in 2024 and 2025… co-captained team to CIF Southern California Regional Championship in 2025… helped 2024 team to a perfect 31-0 record… two-time Junior Olympics Champion… four-time USAWP Academic All-American… son of Olivia and Alan Slutzky… father played water polo at USC.

Minnis on Slutzky: "Geoff is a big explosive center, who will add another layer to our offense. He holds position forcing teams into deep zones. Geoff is coming to us from a Newport Harbor program where his teams have won at both club and high school levels."

Rigby Snapp

Center • Ventura, Calif. • Ventura

Two-year varsity starter at Ventura High School…served as team captain in 2025 and was named team MVP… first-team All-CIF Southern Section and All-Channel League selection… played in USA Water Polo's 2026 National League and helps team to second-place finish… played two seasons for Mission WPC (2022-24) and two for Channel Island United WPC (2024-26)… helped Channel Island to second-play finish at 2026 National Junior Olympics… also competed in one year of varsity swimming… member of National Honors Society and an AP Scholar… four-time USAWP Outstanding Academic All-American… older brother Jackson Snapp is a member of the Navy water polo team in the USNA's class of 2028… mother Kristi Snapp was the 1987 figure skating national precision team champion… father Lawrence Snapp played water polo at USC.

Minnis on Snapp: "Rigby is a big strong center. He is athletic and has the knack to finish the ball in front of the goal. Rigby has a work ethic that is so contagious and is a great addition to our program."
