Men's 4x1 Sets New School Record and Advances to Saturday Finals at NCAA Championships

LA CROSSE, WI. -- It was another strong day at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track & Field National Championsip Meet for four members of the Amherst College men's team.

The men's 4x100 meters relay team took 9th in the prelim in a school record run of 40.74 to advance to tomorrow's final. They run at 2:15 EST and seek to earn All-American honors. Seniors

Cody Pierce,

Alexander Nichols and

Jordan Harrison joined sophomore

Ian Irwin in breaking the school record.

NESCAC Champ Pierce also took 17th in the men's 400-meter prelim, his last individual event as a Mammoth.

In addition to the men's 4x1, senior

Stan Craig will run the 5000 meter Saturday and junior

Michael Abbey Jr. will perform in the triple jump.
