The Bates College baseball team has achieved a historic milestone, starting the season with a 10-1 record, the best in program history, and matching the longest winning streak with nine consecutive victories. The Bobcats secured a 15-7 win over UMaine Presque Isle and a 7-2 victory against Macalester at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. Senior John Tully led the charge against Macalester with his fourth straight win, while junior Theo Zacharia made a strong first collegiate start against UMaine Presque Isle, allowing just one hit over five innings.
In women's basketball, senior captain Elsa Daulerio continues to collect accolades, being named a D3hoops.com Second Team All-American and a WBCA Coaches' All-American. Daulerio, the most decorated player in program history, led Bates to a record 26 wins this season, a NESCAC title, and a Sweet 16 appearance. Her achievements place her among the elite in Bates history, joining only two other players as a two-time D3hoops.com All-American.
The men's track and field team saw a standout performance from first-year George Klatsky, who broke the post-1984 school record in the javelin with a throw of 215-11 at the Emory Spring Break Classic. Sophomore Nick Nicolazzo and senior Ross Tejeda also delivered strong performances, with Nicolazzo setting a personal best in the long jump and Tejeda placing third in the 800 meters.
The women's track and field team also impressed at the Emory Spring Break Classic, with first-year Hannah Pawlowski and sophomore Graca Bila achieving top finishes in their events. Pawlowski's 800-meter time ranks third on Bates' all-time list, while Bila's performance in the 400-meter hurdles ranks sixth. First-year Alisandra Lindos excelled in the triple jump, securing second place and moving to second on the Bates all-time list.
Bates men's lacrosse, ranked No. 18, suffered a narrow 13-12 loss to No. 17 Middlebury, despite a strong start and maintaining a lead into the fourth quarter. The Bobcats' early dominance, with goals from Xander Frey and others, was countered by Middlebury's late-game surge.
The women's lacrosse team pushed top-ranked Middlebury in an 11-8 defeat. Bates rallied to within a goal in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell short. Clare McGeever and Laci Raveis were instrumental in keeping the game competitive with their early goals.
In softball, Bates concluded their Florida trip by sweeping a doubleheader against Brockport and Ursinus, highlighted by a walk-off win over Brockport. Despite earlier losses to Wisconsin-Platteville and Endicott, the Bobcats showcased resilience and strategic play, particularly in their victory over Ursinus.
