Bucknell University's wrestling team wrapped up its 2025-26 campaign at the NCAA National Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. The Bison, who sent five wrestlers to the national stage, saw their journey conclude on the second day of competition. Senior Dylan Chappell, competing in the 141-pound category, was a standout performer, securing a win in the consolation rounds before being eliminated. Chappell's victory over Nash Singleton of Oregon State was marked by a dominant 16-12 decision, showcasing his resilience and skill. Despite falling short of All-American honors against Carter Nogle of Air Force, Chappell ends his collegiate career tied for fifth in all-time wins at Bucknell, with 111 victories.
The first day of the championships saw Bucknell grapplers secure several wins, with Dillon Bechtold (197), Noah Mulvaney (165), and Myles Takats (174) advancing to the second round. Takats, notably the highest-seeded Bison at tenth, delivered a thrilling comeback against Pittsburgh's Luca Augustine, securing a last-second takedown to win his opening match. However, the momentum did not carry into the second day, as all four remaining Bison, including Mulvaney and Bechtold, were eliminated in the wrestle-backs. Despite the early exits, the team's performance at the NCAA Championships reflects a season of growth and competitive spirit.
