The Trinity College Men's Basketball team continues its impressive run in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship, advancing to the Elite Eight for the third consecutive year. The top-ranked Bantams defeated sixteenth-ranked Hood College 88-71 in the Sweet Sixteen at Ray Oosting Gymnasium. The Bantams, now 28-2 on the season, started strong with a 12-2 lead, thanks to key contributions from Henry Vetter, Jarrel Okorougo, and Jared Berry. Despite a mid-game rally from Hood, Trinity maintained control and secured the victory. The Bantams, who are also back-to-back NESCAC champions, will now head to Fort Wayne for their next matchup.
In women's track and field, first-year Olivia Carney earned Second Team All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. Carney set a personal and program record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.74 seconds, finishing 13th in the nation. Her performance caps a remarkable indoor season, where she emerged as the fastest 200m runner in the Mideast Region and the fastest first-year short sprinter nationally.
Sophomore wrestler Ty Trickle represented Trinity at the NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Competing in the 141-pound bracket, Trickle secured one victory against Kaden Ware of Penn Tech but was narrowly defeated in two other matches. Trickle concludes his season with a 23-10 record, tying the program record for the tenth most wins in a season.
