The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team has captured the Ivy League Tournament championship in dramatic fashion, defeating top-seeded Yale 88-84 in overtime at Cornell's Newman Arena. This victory marks Penn's first Ivy League Tournament title since 2018 and secures their automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the program's 25th overall appearance. The Quakers' path to the title was marked by another overtime win against Harvard in the semifinals, where AJ Levine's last-second layup sealed a 62-60 victory. Junior forward TJ Power's impressive season has also been recognized, as he was named a finalist for the Riley Wallace Award, honoring the most impactful transfer in Division I basketball.
In wrestling, Penn's team is well-represented at the NCAA Championships with several top seeds. Sophomore Cross Wasilewski leads the group with a #3 seed at 149 pounds, while Jude Swisher, CJ Composto, and Evan Mougalian also earned top-15 seeds in their respective weight classes. The Quakers have a total of six wrestlers competing, with Davis Motyka and Sean Seefeldt also securing bids. The championships begin on March 19 at Rocket Arena.
The men's swimming and diving team at Penn is making waves with Watson Nguyen and Peter Whittington earning spots at the NCAA Championships. Nguyen, a sophomore, qualified with record-breaking performances in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Ivy League Championships, earning First Team All-Ivy honors. Whittington will join him in the 200 breaststroke, having secured Second Team All-Ivy recognition. This marks the first time since 2016 that Penn will have multiple swimmers competing at the NCAA Championships, highlighting a significant year for the program.
