Columbia University's wrestling team is making waves as it prepares for the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships, sending the largest contingent of qualifiers in the program's history. Leading the charge is Alvan, who enters his third NCAA Championships as the No. 12 seed in the 165-pound bracket. Alvan, the Ivy League Champion, will face SIUE's Brock Woodcock in his opening match. Joining him is Fine, making his second NCAA appearance as the No. 16 seed in the 125-pound category, set to face UNI's Jared Sima. Mueller and Owen also secured spots, with Mueller seeded No. 17 at 285 pounds and Owen No. 19 at 157 pounds. Frezza and Curtis round out the qualifiers, both earning seeds in the low 20s. The team is poised to compete against top-tier opponents, including representatives from Virginia Tech and other strong programs.
Meanwhile, Columbia's men's swimming and diving team has wrapped up its season following the NCAA Zones. The highlight of the meet was Will Cooley's impressive fifth-place finish in the platform dive. Cooley also achieved his highest placement to date on the 3-meter springboard, finishing 19th. With these performances, the season comes to a close, marking the end of an era for senior leaders Joe and Chloe, whose contributions have been pivotal for the team. Head Diving Coach Donie expressed pride in the team's accomplishments and looks forward to the future endeavors of his graduating athletes.
