The Harvard women's hockey team is making headlines this week with a slew of individual accolades and a pivotal playoff series on the horizon. The Crimson are set to face Princeton in the ECAC Championship quarterfinals, a best-of-three series starting February 27 at Hobey Baker Rink. Harvard, the eighth seed, looks to upset second-seeded Princeton after a thrilling victory over St. Lawrence in the opening round, marking their first playoff win since 2022.
Individually, the Crimson have much to celebrate. Junior captain Zoe Boosamra, along with Ainsley Tuffy, earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors, while Emily Davidson was named to the Academic All-Ivy team. Boosamra, leading Harvard with eight points in Ivy play, was instrumental in the team's upset over Cornell earlier this season.
Further accolades include Kaley MacDonald being named ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week. MacDonald scored the decisive overtime goal against St. Lawrence, propelling Harvard into the quarterfinals. Her defensive prowess has been a cornerstone for the Crimson, contributing eight points this season.
Freshman Morgan McGathey's impact has also been recognized as she secured a spot on the ECAC All-Rookie Team. Leading the team with 15 points and 10 goals, McGathey has been a standout performer in her debut season, showcasing her versatility and skill in both offensive and defensive roles.
As the Crimson prepare for their showdown with Princeton, they carry the momentum of these individual achievements and a strong team performance into what promises to be a fiercely contested series.
