The Bates women's rowing team concluded its season on a high note, finishing as the national runner-up at the 2026 NCAA Championships held at Lake Lanier Olympic Park. Both the first varsity eight and the second varsity eight advanced to their respective grand finals, showcasing strong performances throughout the competition. The first varsity eight's silver medal marks the best finish for the Bobcats at the NCAA Championships since 2022 and the best showing for the crew since 2021. The team’s journey to the finals began with a solid start on Friday morning, where both crews qualified with impressive heats.
On the men's side, the Bates men's rowing team also made a significant impact at the IRA National Championship, finishing fifth among Division III schools. The men's eights advanced to the grand finals after placing third in their heats, demonstrating their competitive spirit on Lake Natoma. Their fifth-place finish wraps up a strong season for the Bobcats, reflecting the growth and development of the program.
