The Tufts University women's rowing team solidified its dominance in collegiate athletics by winning its third consecutive NCAA Championship on May 29, 2026, at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia. This remarkable achievement places the Jumbos among the elite in NCAA Championship history, as they outperformed their competition to claim the title once again. The victory follows a season in which the team consistently ranked among the top in the nation, culminating in this historic three-peat.
Meanwhile, the men's rowing team concluded its season at the 2026 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships in Gold River, California, where they finished fourth overall. After a promising start on May 29, where both varsity eight boats advanced to the Grand Finals, the Jumbos faced stiff competition in the finals held on May 30. Despite their strong performance throughout the season, they ultimately secured fourth place in both the first and second varsity events, marking a solid finish for the squad.
In baseball, senior Cole Donato earned recognition for his outstanding performance during the season, as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-America Third Team. This accolade highlights Donato's pivotal role as the ace of the Jumbos, capping off a successful career.
In track and field, Tufts sophomore Elysse Cumberland and assistant coach Kat Rafuse received regional honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their exceptional contributions this season. Cumberland's achievements on the track have been noteworthy, and Rafuse's coaching has significantly impacted the program's success. The Jumbos look forward to building on this momentum in the upcoming season.
