Columbia's women's rowing team made history this week by competing in its first-ever NCAA Championship at Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville, Georgia. The No. 17 Lions raced in three Third Finals on June 1, following a strong performance on Day One that included heats and semifinals. Their participation marks a significant milestone for the program, showcasing the growth and competitiveness of Columbia rowing on a national stage.
Meanwhile, the lightweight and heavyweight rowing teams also concluded their seasons at the IRA National Championship Regatta in Gold River, California. The No. 9 Lightweight and No. 15 Heavyweight squads participated in the prestigious event from May 31 to June 1, representing Columbia with pride against top-tier competition.
In track and field, Haydn Brotschi highlighted the Lions' efforts at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Eastern Prelims held at the University of Kentucky. Brotschi qualified for the men's 400-meter quarterfinals with a time of 45.57 seconds, demonstrating his speed and determination as he wrapped up the season on a competitive note. This performance at the NCAA East Regionals underscores the potential for future success in Columbia's track and field program.
